I'm Al Mackey, a professional web developer, and this is my personal website, a home for some of my odd side-projects.
Under Shaders you can find some visual programs I've written in GLSL, the OpenGL Shader Language. This includes some eye candy, some brain-teasers, and even some simple games. A shader is a tiny program that runs massively parallel, once on each pixel displayed. This makes writing games in GLSL particularly challenging, as each pixel is only aware of its neighbors and generally not the game world at large. Shaders are usually used to do textures and effects in modern video games, but these shaders run flat, and are an excellent playground for new possibilities.
There is also an archive of Music that I've composed. I'm not too active with music anymore, but this site preserves an archive of music that stretches back to my early computer days.
